Are there foods that cause acne? What are the foods that cause acne? Acne is oftentimes a problem for teenagers. Lots of teenagers go through this horrible experience in life. Even some adults have acne problems too. One of the main factors that cause acne is the food that you eat, the foods that cause acne. Remember that what you eat will reflect on you. Foods that cause acne tend to show on your skin and causes signs of acne. Acne is a result from having oily skin with pores that are clogged. The oil in the food that we eat will increase oil levels in our skin and will block the pores and eventually acne will come out. Certain foods, foods that cause acne can be responsible for the increased production of sebum in our skin.

Eating too much fat is the biggest reason that causes acne. It causes blood sugar problem wherein the blood sugar level becomes unstable. This can cause an increase in sebum and block the pores. Too much fat can slowdown the oxygen and nutrients going to the cells. The result to this lack of oxygen and nutrients in your cells can worsen your acne.

Foods that cause acne: Dairy products

Dairy products are one of the foods that cause acne. Actually the worst food you can take if you have an acne problem. Dairy foods have high fat content. Examples of dairies are butter, ice cream, processed cheese, butter and milk. Milk comes from pregnant cows that convert hormones into dihydrotestosteron hormone. It increases the production of sebum at skin gland and leads to acne.

Foods that cause acne: Caffeine

Are you a coffee lover and are you having problems with acne? Another one of the foods that cause acne is caffeine. Caffeine can be found in coffee, tea (black and green), chocolate, sodas, energy drinks and some pain killers. Try to remove this from your diet. But if this is hard work for you maybe you can taper the intake gradually before totally cutting it off.

Caffeine causes adrenal glands to release stress hormones, which increases your stress levels. Too much stress is not good for your health and skin. Also notice that if you take too much caffeine before you go to sleep, you may find it hard to sleep, and even if you sleep, the caffeine precludes the body to the deepest phase of sleep. During the deepest phase, the body does its physical repairs and detoxification. If our bodies cannot rest well, expect your health and acne to will get worse.

Foods that cause acne: Processed foods

Processed foods are also foods that cause acne. Processed foods are not easily digestible. All these processed foods are unrefined in their natural state. Processed foods have very little nutrients. The taste that you get is all from additives. These chemicals may have a reaction to your body that could lead to allergy, inflammation and even to acne.

So try to avoid all the foods that cause acne. To achieve the healthy skin that you want, eat healthy. Choose nutritious foods. Instead of processed foods, you might want to switch to organic foods. Drink at least eight glasses of water everyday. Hydrated skin is fresh and glowing, drinking a proper amount of water will not just do well to your skin but also your health as a whole. Hygiene is also important. Wash your face before you go to bed, wash off your make up and try to apply some moisturizer.
